Wiggle Delivery Times

Hi there,

Just wondering what kind of delivery times you have all been experiencing with your recent orders from Wiggle.

I had an insanely fast one just now.

Ordered a set of bars, which got processed on the 28th of February, and received them today, on the 3rd of March.

Anybody else getting anything this fast, out of interest?

Cheers

I ordered some tyres and tubes from Wiggle mid January and when I wondered where they were a month later package had apparently gone missing in the mail. It cannot even have made it to Japan because I would never suspect the mail man here. Now I am just looking forward to see when the rain jacket I ordered a few days ago will appear. Hopefully the thief only needed tyres, already has a jacket/alternatively uses an umbrella.

Scandiman,

I strongly suggest you contact Wiggle about this, and explain your situation.

Packages not arriving is a serious issue.

Contact them.

Agreed. In fact, I was offered a full refund when I contacted them so all good-ish. Would still like to get in touch with the thief though

"good-ish"?

You have exacting standards, sir.

Thanks for the feedback, regardless.

The reason I originally asked this, was due to a fairly large discrepancy between delivery times this year, and delivery times last year.

I have been experiencing some very fast times this year.

Wiggle is really fast for me. My last order was for a set of pedals and a tire a few weeks ago, and it arrived on something like the 5th business day after placing the order. And that's fairly typical.

4 or 5 days is what I'm seeing :D

About 5 days for Wiggle. I think they are awesome. Don't get me started on Evans though. I've been having some issues with them...

ordered a new Garmin silky soft HRM and GCS10 unit and took 2 bloody days .....awesome~!

Never had a problem with Wiggle. Chain Reaction and Evans - well, very spotty. Their webapps are not accurate - I seriously doubt the stockkeeping shown actually reflects the actual shipping stock. Plus, they are using affiliate flooring which means just putting up stock that is probably coming from other distributors, stores and warehouses. Wiggle has massive infrastructure and actually stocks the stuff they sell - in their warehouses. Amazing how a good backend system can improve the buying experience.

I'm seeing a range of times. Lately, I'm seeing packages arrive in around 5 days (plus or minus 1). It is really amazing. In the past, it was a week or so.

I've also had situations where something I ordered later arrived before a previous order. In those cases, the package was already in Japan but hadn't been delivered by the local service. After waiting two weeks, (and getting a package I had ordered later than the one I was waiting on), I called the local delivery service. Each time I called the local service, they claimed not to have the package, but miraculously, it showed up the next day. Hmmmmm.......

But Wiggle has been great.

Wiggle has always taken about two weeks for me, sometimes a bit longer in the case where there are import taxes. That's about what I've expected so I haven't been disappointed up to this point. But so many people getting things in 5 days is starting to make me feel I've gotten sub-par delivery times.

There was a feature on Chain Reaction this week on BikeRadar. There is a gallery of images, of which these are some. The first one reminds me of the end scene from `Raiders of the Lost Ark`.

`Combined with another unit across the road, which is where new products arrive and the website team and photo studio are based, the Doagh site covers some 150,000sq ft. On top of that, CRC have another 65,000sq ft unit two miles down the road where all the new bikes are stored. Products arrive at the goods-in unit over the road from the showroom and are then stored in Chain Reaction's main 100,000sq ft warehouse. This place is vast, with dozens of aisles and stock stacked several storeys high. It takes a small army to fill the tens of thousands of orders being received daily – in total, CRC have around 420 staff.`

@Sikochi ^ nothing I've ever received from CRC looked like it was packed by professionals. It just came in whatever box they could grab at the time, mushed up and wrapped with boundless layers of packing tape. So - not sure where my parcels came from, but undoubtedly NOT from THAT facility..

The order I made, everything was chucked in the same box: I ordered some wheels and a few other things and all the other items were just placed in the original wheel box and resealed. When i opened it, one of the Look pedals was loose in the botton, but it had been opened by customs so I can`t definitely say who it was, but it wasn`t the most intelligent piece of packing I`ve seeen. Nothing was damaged though. From the article, I think advertorial is more of a correct term, I was amazed by the size of the operation as never thought they were anywhere near that big, perhaps they`re trying to counteract a slight negative image of them. BTW: There is a report of some Credit Card details being swiped from transactions with them in the past week, so don`t use them for the immediate future.

I didn`t write about Evans, so forgive me if you know this stuff, but they are the largest specialist bike chain in the UK (30+ shops). From personal experience, sometimes the problem is that the stuff listed on the website exists but it exists in one (or more) of their stores: sometimes it states this on the website, sometimes it doesn`t. So the item/s then has to be recalled by the main warehouse (they do have a large place near Gatwick Airport) but the individual shops are hit and miss so this can either be quick or a long-winded process. I was once told via the website/mail order, that one store had something, but the store themselves couldn`t find it! Also, you can reserve stuff at a store and it won`t always be removed off the website. Plus, how efficient the website is when you order and a store orders the stuff at the same time, or someone else online I have no idea. Evans are reliable but have some management issues.

Wiggle are definitely the best, but that`s reflected in the prices which don`t compare to what they used to be 5 years ago.

UPDATE:

Forgive me Wiggle, all of you.

Why?

There was no thief, I can only blame myself: The package appeared today with the rather incomplete address "Frode, Oota-ku, Tokyo, Japan"... Yes, that was it. But still it fu&#ing made it!

I nearly hugged the mail man but as I would not have been able to explain the background for such an action in Japanese, I just issued some thankful phrases and celebrated the gear by myself.

Cheers!
