I saw this sign yesterday and have no idea what animal this is...

Is it a 'raccoon/beaver/pig'? :eek:

Gotcha. I just looked at Megan and said - 'I will never ride on this road!'


Granted, it was a toll road and I could not ride on it anyway.
 
Tanuki (raccoon dog) and araiguma (raccoon) are unrelated species, though they look similar. The latter is a US import in Japan. This sign is more likely to be about the former.

It's called a tanuki, also known as a "Japanese raccoon dog"
