Four rides planned this weekend

Saturday Odaiba, leader: Don
Saturday Arakawa Loop, leader: Sal
Sunday Miura Peninsula, leader: Sal
Sunday Tama River loop, leader: Don

Saturday (12 degrees, partly sunny)

1) Don will lead a beginner’s ride out to Odaiba starting at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00. 30km. Easy. Back by 2:00 or so. dmorton at attglobal.net o9o 5813 6721

2) Sal will take an intermediate group out to do the Arakawa run, starting at the same place but earlier, at 9:45. This ride runs 75 km. Out of central Tokyo past the Imperial Palace, through Ochanomizu, round the back of Ueno, Yanaka-Ginza, across the Sumida-gawa to the Arakawa. Then a solid 16 km downstream to Tokyo Bay before crossing over to Kasai Seaside Park for a picnic. Come back via most of the Odaiba ride route to Roppongi Hills. salvatoresalvino at icloud.com o9o-7816-4612

Sunday (9 degrees, partly sunny)

1) Don will do an intermediate Tama River Loop. 55km, easy but fast. Start at the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills at 11:00 a.m. Alternate rendezvous points: KFC in Ebisu @ 11:30, Intersection of Kan-Nana and Komazawa-Dori @ 11:45, Komazawa Park @ noon, bridge at Futako-Tamagawa (Kanagawa side) @ 12:20, Gas Bashi @ 12:45 or 1:00. Long break at Jonan Jima seaside park (across from Haneda) at 1:30. Convenience store lunch. Back by 3:00 or 3:30. dmorton at attglobal.net o9o 5813 6721

2) Sal will lead a bundled-up group on a Miura Peninsula Ride
This isn’t a beginners’ ride, but neither is it a race! We'll be riding about 60km with some steep-ish sections (both up and down!) Wonderful scenery, roads through the rice paddies, a lighthouse, a windmill, and more. Route will be something like this.

Train leaves Keikyu Shinagawa Station at 08:57. Use the front cars on the train as the back ones go to Zushi. You want a car that's going to Misaki-guchi and thus stops at Kurihama. Arrive Kurihama at 09:51. We'll aim to arrive at Misaki at 11:30ish, where lunch is an option. Our final destination will be Zushi station, where we train back to Tokyo. Requires a bike bag. salvatoresalvino at icloud.com o9o-7816-4612

So - what's your excuse this time?

Gonna give the Saturday #2 option a try, see how you guys and gals roll. The festive period has done me a wrong 'un but I need to get out and ride new areas with new people.
