Hey all, I'm from the US, more specifically California. I'm currently trying to find a Bridgestone Chero 700c which seem to only be available in Japan. All websites I find are all in Japanese of course.

Now to be even more specific I'm looking for one in 510mm and in a color called Pigeon Gray which I believe is a 2014 color which of course makes it even more tough to find.

Would anyone know who I could maybe try to contact to find one and have it shipped to California? (note I can't speak, read or write in Japanese) I'd also be open to a used one in good condition.

ANY help would be awesome! Thanks guys.

Why that particular bike? They are still in some bike shops but shipping it in the standard bike box to the US is going to cost some coin. Do you have anyone who works in the military and can ship it APO for you?

Yeah I know it would probably cost a good bit, but I'd like to cross that bridge when i get there. First I'd like to see if i could even find one of these bikes in the size and color i'm looking for, whether new or used.

I do have someone who works on the US military base as a civilian employ of the D.O.D., I might be able to ask them to send it to me via FPO. Is that generally significantly cheaper?

anyone else by chance have any other thoughts on where to find one of these?

You could try looking on Yahoo Auction (the Ebay of Japan) and buying through a proxy service. Read this article: http://www.ghacks.net/2014/09/22/how-to-buy-items-from-yahoo-auctions-japan-if-you-are-not-japanese/

A quick search on Yahoo Auction throws up quite a few hits.

Or just buy from a non-auction site like Amazon or Rakuten and use Tenso.com as a proxy.

unfortunately can't seem to find the color and size i'm looking for. There are some listings but they actually show up as Sold Out it seems. :/

Hmm, anyone read japanese well?

From the terrible google translation of the below, I think i'm understanding that they'll check the actual stock after the order has been placed and if it is in stock they will request payment? and if not they will cancel the order? Is that even remotely close?

It says they will check if it is in stock after the order. If the payment option chosen at time of order was bank transfer, they will confirm with you whether it is in stock before you need to make the bank transfer. I guess you would pay by credit card though, which is done at the same time as order, so if they have no stock I guess they will just tell you so and refund payment to your credit card (though this is not mentioned specifically in the text you pasted).

What's the story behind this particular bike? Trying to replace one that was special to someone?

to be honest i know this is gonna sound ridiculous, but i just really want it. I was in japan earlier this year and saw one and really liked it, but figured it wasn't worth thinking about as it would be costly to try to take one home with me. but here i am 6mos later still wishing I had it :/ haha.
