Official Ride Tour de Kusatsu! (13th TCC Tour)

9:00-9:30 at Ueno station!

Where to meet on Saturday morning:

There are only a few trains we can catch, but I think most of the people who are going want to catch the 10:00 train from Ueno.
We'll meet at the East exit, outside the "Hard Rock Cafe".

Buying the tickets will take some time, so please come early!
Personally, I think I'll get there at around 9:00.

We'll also be catching the train with some Japanese friends of mine from another site - Alpen-Marker; About 5-6 people.

And when we get to the destination, we'll have a choice of taking the bus to Kusatsu, OR riding the 17km (mostly up-hill) from the station.
I think Thomas and I might opt for the ride with some of the Alpen-Marker guys.

If you can't make the 10:00 train, the next one leaves Ueno at 12:00.
Please try to catch that, or you might not make it in time to check in for the race.

See you on Saturday! Travis

Good Luck Mountain Goats!!

Just wanted to say good luck to all you guys going up Kusatsu!

I suffered up that #$%&$ berg last year, but it was a great experience !(especially if you enjoy suffering!)

I also suggest you bring earplugs if you are sleeping anywhere near Travis....

Good luck and please TAKE IT EASY ON THE WAY DOWN!!

all the best

Hi, all hill climbers

I decided to drive up. If anyone wants to ride with me, you are more than welcome. I drive a mini van accomodating at least three more. So, just let me know on either this BBS or private message. I prefer to pick you up somewhere between Tachikawa and Shinjuku since I live west of Tokyo.

C U in Kusatsu

Hi all.

I have decided to travel up to Kusatsu with Minoru san. So I will look forward to seeing you guys up there.:)

Unluckly, I woke up this morning with a *$%#*ing soar throat. I think I have a cold coming. :eek:uch: But I will take a chance and go any way. Hopefully, I can fight it off before Sunday.

Have a nice trip up there.

reports reports.... can't wait..... I expect reports before I wake up in the morning...

Saw a bit of the race on tonight's news. Looked like hell. Glad I didn't try to lug my beefy belly up there.

I'll have to do it next year...

Thomas & I made it back!

From Kusatsu to Shibamata: 191km.
Including breaks, the ride took 11 hours.
Av.spd: 25.6km/h.
Max: 66.7km/h.

My legs feel like lead, and my arse feels like a punching bag.
Will write more in the full report! T

Thank you all for a very nice weekend in the Japanese mountains! It was really great to participate in a Japanese cycling race. Sleeping in a ryokan for the first time and visit onsens twice a day, I won't forget this weekend!

Also, respect for Thomas and Travis to make it back all the way, I think there was some headwind also wasn't it?

Great!!

Great tour!!
