Great riding on Saturday. It was just myself and @saibot which gave us plenty of time for selfies. The weather was gorgeous, blue skies and temperatures ideal for cycling. Autumn is certainly on its way.

We made our way up the river towards Tokigawa. Somewhere near Shiraishi we managed to take a wrong turn which added a few km and a bit more climbing but it was all good. We dropped down into Chichibu before riding out towards the old mining town of Nichitsu. I'm sure the climb used to be long than it was. Before we knew it we were in the town. Clambering about the ruins isn't the easiest thing to be done in cycling shoes. Trying to get to the hospital I had to walk through a bog, almost dirtying my lovely clean shoelaces. Disaster averted, I began to explore one of the most intriguing places in Saitama.

We climbed out of the town, heading for the dreaded tunnel. To our surprise, it wasn't too cold in the tunnel. We dropped down the other side on one of the most scenic descents I've been on (the seems to always be debris on the road so take care.

We hit the last climb, Sadamine, as the sun began to bring a close to the day. As we reached the top it was lights on full beam and blast back to Ogawamachi. Full throttle in the pitch black, back to the station, was one of my favourite parts of the ride.

Thanks to @saibot for the company.

And now for some selfies
