Anybody doing this in 2008?

Some of our guys are going... They did it in the rain last year (210km) so they plan to just do the 100km version this year.

Big event.

There was a TV documentary done on it last year.

Just looked at the application form.
4 categories.

A210
B130
C100
D40

Very interested . . .

Hey Christoph,

What do you think (same island and course we cycled round together)? I will ask Yoriko to check if the ryokan we stayed at previously is available.

Philip

Hey Philip

me too !! Was a super nice trip around Sado! Let's do it again!

Cheers
Christoph

Old fart

Is there an old fart's section ?

If so I would certainly be up for the 100km and maybe even the 200km which would be the longest I have ever attempted !!

I'd like to express my interest in this.

I intended to do a tour (with a bit of camping) last year but deadlines killed off the idea. This therefore looks like a good chance to explore the island.

While the distances are ok, speed is my worry. What speeds do you generally ride at?

Anyway, I guess I have 5 months to try and get up to par.

Is anyone still interested in this tour?
If TCC group is gathering there - I would very much like to join. 130km or maybe 210km (sounds like a tough challenge).

PS There is a 〆切 for applying to it in April 10 - not much time left to decide, I guess

Sado - 200km

Yes - I am interested as this would be a max for me and a great place to try it out by all accounts. Are we on for this ?

Great, Charles!
I was kind of unsure about trying it alone - glad to know there will be a TCC senpai there :)

I will be registerinig there shortly (after I decide which course to challenge - 130 or 210) - it can be done the same way as for Tour de Kusatsu on sports entry site here:

http://www.sportsentry.ne.jp/event.php?tid=14648
40km - 3000Y
100km and 130km - 6000Y
210km - 7000Y

I guess it is 2 unregistered riders now:

- chazzer (Charles)
- kpykc (Sergey)

BTW, anyone willing to take over the organization of this trip?

Registered...

I have just registered for the 200kms ride.

So I guess a little bit of research needed. I will try to figure out the travel options and accommodation etc and will post more when I know.

In the meantime if there others who are interested then lets try and build a small possee :)

Sado is really really high on my Yet To Visit But Want To list, but the timing for the ride doesn't work for me this year.

Best I can do is look forward to reading reports/seeing pics from fellow TCC-ers who do go...

Lot of pressure for me to go from our club but the guys who are going plan on drinking all the way there on the train and at the minshuku as well.
The cost for their tour will run at over 30,000 yen.
Due to that and a lot of extra costs this year I've decided to give it a miss...
I took up cycling to get away from the beers...

I really have to budget my races this year as I'm cutting back on a lot of work next month....(so I can ride more).

close to home and cheap races...
Which leaves me with these ...
Tsukuba 8 hour May.
Hitachi in July. (my only real chance of a win I think)
Friendly Park (April/November)
Saiko November....(will I ever improve on the 3rd place here?).
If there is a keirin event in August at Omiya I'll do that as well....

Done and done...

Just Registered for 210km, 南無阿弥陀仏!
Now to check those shinkansen flights for Sado :)

Are you doing the Saitama time trial at the end of April, Pete? I think it's in your neck of the woods...

Is that near the Tone river?

Yeah, I think so. Kazo City by the river (加須市大利根町区域). It's the April 27 race on the JCRC homepage. I just signed up even though I already have way too much going on that month... It'll be my first official JCRC race.

Not sure I'll do it. A lot of people doing that bring out their specialised TT bikes with aero bars, and disc wheels. My parachute shaped body and regular road bike don't TT too well. Now if there is a tail wind I'm probably a good chance but this course is a U turn so the wind will get me in the end (or the start).

I'm still game for this, if it would be possible to join you.

Update: Have booked for the 210km ride as well.

Think my longest to date has been 150km so this is going to be interesting.

Great, Richy! That'll make 3 of us - defenders of TCC honour :)
