Top amateur racer Takaoka san aka 'The Roppongi Express' is attempting to break the record for riding from the south to north of Japan.

Day 2 today.

Andy

Enosan at the bike store tells me the original record was set by a Canon employee 25 years or so ago in the pre convenience store era. Self supported too. Must have been an adventure!

What a madman. I don't think I could even do 400 km in one day.
I feel I could to 400 in a day. But 6 or 7 days straight...

Pacing, nutrition and recovery will be so important.

I've heard tails about the guy 25 years ago. Will get the full story. But I remember being told he went pretty much straight through, grabbing naps in bus shelters etc.

Assuming he's staying in hotels, it must have been months in the planning.
This is definitely more my lane than everesting, though...

Yeah I know, that's the biggest thing isn't it.

Off the bike strength work may help but it seems like a common occurrence.

Andy

He'll be passing through here today. Would try to join him for a bit of the ride if I wasn't bandaged up...

And just missed the rains yesterday!

Maybe still a little, but that's better than august sun.
