I'm looking for randonneur style bars that have the swept back tops. I know Nitto makes some, but the hooks/drops are classic round style. I'm more interested in the ones Soma makes that have ergo hooks ( http://www.somafab.com/archives/product/brevet-randonneur-bar-ergo-bend )because I commute along the Arakawa river, and going to work there's almost always a strong headwind, so I tend to stay in the hooks that whole section. I've done some looking around, and I can't find these anywhere in Japan. Anyone have any alternatives?

Thanks,

Eric

I don't think you're going to have much luck finding any with ergo hooks, but Grand Bois in Kyoto have their own randonneur bar that gets good reviews

I've ordered lots of stuff from them and it's all top notch quality.
You might also try looking around Blue Lug in Hatagaya. They import some randoっぽい stuff from overseas, perhaps Soma stuff too? .

For what it's worth, I use Nitto Grand Randonneur bars and find the flared out flat part of the drops to be extremely comfortable for long rides into head winds. I only put my hands in the hooks when I need my brakes handy.

My wife has some Soma bars on her Salsa (sparrow bars) and I have owned and currently own a Soma frame.
I consider their stuff to be a great value but not necessarily top notch.
I have no complaints about anything I have bought from them, it just isn't the latest/greatest/newest/lightest/etc... but the price is good for what it is.

Alternative and not sure if you would want something like this... but I have Salsa Woodchippers on one of my bikes.
At the hoods, it is a little more narrow than my other bars, but the bars sweep down an away. The feeling is completely different than any other bar I have used and on my fat tire tourer, I love them.
