So at my university we have a newly formed bicycle club, made up by mostly fixie riders. We have february 13th off from school and are trying see about going to a veledrome that day for some casual racing and possible track coaching. does anyone know the proper procedure to getting on the track and can we use non NJS bikes?

Tachikawa has open day. And many times it's sponsored by university race clubs. So , you could find out that, then join with them. Kawasaki also has open day, but it's sponsored by ex Keirin pros and Hiroshi San. So you need intro first. If I was you , I'd start there, maybe Hiroshi San can give you to on how to get into the uni racing scene.

Regarding Tachikawa, do they have the open days listed up on some website or do you just have to call up and ask? From what I have gathered it seems like any fixed gear bike without brake levers and calipers is fine.

Actually most of these 'open days' require some kind of introduction and / or escort. They are not publicized, per se, and often it's just a training (non-race) day at the track so you'll be riding along with riders from all groups. Since many Universities have amateur velodrome racing club, that is the place to start. Or, befriend your local Pro Keirin rider. The tracks, themselves operate under the jurisdiction of the JKA. Gunnar? You know best about this!

Hiroshi at C-Speed is the best person to talk to.
