I'd love to ride around there again, but can't justify the Azusa fare so soon.

We rode a small section of something similar on 24th July. R19 had a lot of trucks, and we dodged off it wherever we could onto the side roads. The little post towns, Niekawa and especially Narai, were lovely; you'd miss a real treat if you got back onto R19 at your 27km marker.

Here's that section of our ride.

Yeah, I was planning to stay off the main highway, I just got a little lazy when I was plotting the route on MapMyRide. :D

On the route you marked, it looks like you kicked off just when it was starting to get into the best part, Gonbee Toge. :bike:

Cheers for the feedback, Mike! :D

This was where we actually rode.

Slightly different from the plan!

The speed demons went to Nagamine and Nomugi passes

We were met by a bus from NorthStar lodge at the dam, so we didn't have to ride uphill through the dreadful tunnels.

The following day, all 32 of us did some, all, or less of this

In 2011 the full length of the Norikura Super-Rindo is apparently going to be open. That should make the mountain area even more fun.
