Bikes are not cheap these days. I wonder if its a supply and demand situation.

 
There has been a recent price hike of about 10% stateside. The claim is added cost of shipping, added workplace covid stuff, etc...

Otherwise - the prices pretty much seem on par with what they have been for years. I paid maybe $1200 for my MTB back in 1998 (Jamis Dragon).
I could not touch the quality of that bike today for under 2K. But is has been 23 years and todays mid level bike will way out perform my old 26" wheeled Dragon.

Yes I think bikes are too expensive for what they are... but I keep buying them, so I guess it is worth it. :D
 
Yep more demand and manufacturers not investing tons of capital to address a lily temporary spike in demand and COVID supply issues.
 
When I went to buy a bike from Giant, I was told due to supply issues, parts and frames were costing more and thus had to be passed on to the consumer.
 
But I was totally shocked when I saw them prices. But we live in a world if you want it, then just buy it.
