Hey everyone. My name's Greg and I am currently in Portland, OR and I will most likely be attending IUC in Yokohama starting in September. I currently ride a Centurion LeMans fixed gear conversion and a Specialized Comp Allez for those longer rides. So anyways, my host family will be living in Chigasaki and I was hoping that I would be able to commute by bicycle (~20) rather than take a train. If anyone knows that road conditions, routes, etc. around the Chigasaki/Yokohama that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IUC is in Pacifico at Minato Mirai Yokohama. From Chigasaki, your best route would likely be R467 to R40 to R16 - about 2-2.5 hours on good relatively flat roads with lots of stop lights. Might take longer to return in the late afternoon as there is more traffic.

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible to take R134 along the bay? Not being there I can't really get a feel for how wide the roads are and how much traffic there is.
