Got nailed this morning at the palace. This is what I get for leaving the safe sweaty confines of my basement. Oh well. image.jpg

Nailed it! Hard luck, matey.
I'm trying to read the script on your tyre, but can't quite make it out.
It says, in Continentalese, "We know that tread makes not a blind bit of difference on these tyres, but our research says the tyre-buying public believes that the tread makes them safer, so they will buy our product rather than the competition's."

Gah -- did the nail go right through your rim?

That aside, I'm trying to read the script on your tyre, but can't quite make it out.

Rim tape yes, the inner rim yes but the tip was in floaty space inside the rim and not long enough to come out. I stopped pretty quickly.

I think the script says, "insert nail here". I do like these tyres though. I put a porno patch on the inside of the tyre to make sure not nothing peaked out on the way home. Will have a better look tonight. One very frustrating part of it was that I had the tyre pumped up when the inner core came out as I was removing the pump. B*st*rd!

Interesting that it went into the rear tyre, not the front. Jobst Brandt once explained that this is very common because nails and screws on the road usually lie there sideways, but then the front wheel rolling over their head tips them up just long enough for them to penetrate the rear tyre following right behind.

P.S. April was a great month but it ended.

Oh yeah, I went up the Edogawa / Tonegawa on my usual training ride, and noticed a load of stalls and medieval looking wooden structures being put up.

Golden Week witch burning / shrieking yokel festival season is here, obviously. So if you are heading out through areas like this, prepare to be slowed down considerably with physical bodies shuffling around and meta-physical passive aggressive sideways glancing hatred directed at your foreign faces.

Happy holidays!

He is busy doing sound engineering work for The Gravity Boys today.

He told me he will be free later tonight.

My bike has an irritating ticking coming from somewhere so I took it to the lbs. He was busy with old ladies and their punctures so I came home still ticking a bit. I put a phone mount on today just to see what that was all about. I do not like it for so many reasons. The mount will be used on my death defying indoor trainer sessions instead, still not sure what I'll do with it but that'll come.

When I got home a small package from @Jules was waiting for me. I had asked him to repair the wear and tear on my Fairmean bike bag. It is like new! I fell in love with it all over again:D

@Musashi13 turn up tomorrow with a phone holder and I'll personally push you off your bike, down that very steep hill with all the cows in it at the dairy farm.

Norman (@Stormy) and I headed out to Hadano for a south side ascent of Yabitsu plus a rindo tour. We used a rindo instead of the lower half of the Rt70 climb. After the north side descent we turned off onto another rindo that had a fair amount of debris on it.

We rode back to Tokyo via Sagamihara after some ramen at the Miyagase Lake michi no eki. My legs were shot despite only 104 km / 1700 m. I always get a good workout when riding with strong riders like Norman :) I'll be back for more rindo rides for sure!

I wouldn't hold it against you if you did. I'd be asking for it. In fact, if you didn't I'd think there was something wrong with you!

Went for a ride yesterday by myself. The weather was glorious and was a great day to be on the bike. I certainly didn't rub it in by sending some of my cycling mate lots of photos while I was out in the mountains and they were sitting behind desks ;)

That's really weird. I posted this in the April thread but it has jumped to the May thread.

@Half-Fast Mike yeah I saw that post this morning but just thought he had moved over the posts to a new thread. Didn't realise he had left some hocus locus magic behind that moves any post posted now in the April thread to the May thread.
