Thank You All!

As you know the race is this weekend (Sunday, April 20), and with eight solid training rides under the belt, I feel as prepared as anyone could feel.
All of the rides were memorable for one reason or another (some good; some not so good) but all in all, amazing experiences.
That was a pretty intense 8 weeks!
And probably the most incredible part about all of it was the fantastic weather we had Saturday, after Saturday, after Saturday…. for weeks in a row!

Some highlights:
Awesome views of Fuji… 4 times! KT2, was our first really nice glimpse of Mt.Fuji; from the top of Jukkoku-toge. Then we had some "up close & personal" views of Fuji again for 3 weeks in a row on KT5, KT6 & KT7.

The 20+% slope at Karibazaka on KT4 was also our steepest so far!
That's definitely one we have to do again – And next time, try to finish Deej's "farm loop".

Mikuni-toge (twice). Fair enough, it was a lot easier the second time around after knowing what to expect, but let's not take anything away from what is a seriously tough climb! (It'll be interesting to see if Karibazaka seems easier after another go).

A special thanks:
Last year, I did 7 training-rides for Kusatsu, and I was very thankful to Aaron (Pucci) for being my "stout training partner" at the time. This year though, the "Stout-Training-Partner" award doesn't go to the most participant – Thomas (The current "Most-Miles-Together" award holder) – but to the man who in the last few weeks has pushed me to my absolute limits; by either jumping in front and goading me into trying to catch up, or sitting on my wheel for long stretches daring me to slow down just a fraction, lest he pounce!
Now all I need to do to get my personal best at Kusatsu is look at the field up ahead, and then look for one of 3 things:
1. A bright red jersey!
2. White arm-warmers (should be lots of those).
3. A canary-yellow helmet.
As soon as I see any one of the above, I shall proceed to chase down that Mo'Fo' with all the fury I can muster, and then start looking for the next one! Repeat this process until I get to the top.
Seriously though, Thanks Deej! For pushing me that extra bit each time.
You da MAN!

To all the other Kusatsu-racers who didn't have a chance to make it to any of these rides, I'm confident that you each had your own "Himitsu-Training (secret rides)" out in the hills to get yourselves ready!
See you all this Saturday!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TCC RIDERS!

Travis

You are the one we all owe our thanks to! I was truly impressed by your excellent & exemplary cycling conduct & sportsmanship !

Hi Travis,

Actually, thanks are due to you for organising all these great rides and putting up with us rookies while you're in the midst of training. That really is pretty admirable.

I enjoyed them all.

Very best of luck.

Travis!

Well done mate, you really inspired everyone to push themselves!

I am one of the 'secret trainers', and we did a couple of hills to prepare, but have been held up a lot with family matters this year. However! Next year Yasuhiro and I hope to be able to join you on some of these memorable training runs! Even though we didn't go along, reading the reports of these runs has been really motivating.

Looking forward to seeing you and all the rest off the TCC team in Kusatsu on the weekend! Looks like the weather gods are smiling!:D

Thanks Deej! For pushing me that extra bit each time.
You da MAN!

Thanks, Travis! I'm honored, and riding with you has been a blast. But let's face it, you da man! Really, thank you for organizing all these rides, leading us on the roads and, of course, writing excellent reports. We're lucky to have you in TCC.

I just hope the end of the KT series won't put an end to our little races. :)

Deej

Fully concur with all the thanks going your way Travis. It's been so much fun for me getting out on those rides... even the 60k's from Odawara to Yokohama in the dark. OK, maybe not that part, but it was good for me. Best of luck to all the TCC riders this weekend. Sorry I won't be there to be a part of it. Ben
