Getting restless not having done any significant rides lately. Today I was browsing my Mapple and checking out Google Earth when I realized there is a nearby stretch of coast, between the Shimokita Hanto and Wakayama, that I haven`t yet explored! This is UNACCEPTABLE!! :)

The stretch of coast in question is that of west Izu. Either this month or November, I plan on riding from Yokohama to Numazu and back via the Izu coast. Last time I rode around Izu I cut up the middle from Shimoda to Odawara via Amagi Pass. This time it`ll be a full Izu lap.

Rather than rush, perhaps four days would set a nice pace. If I can only get a three day break, perhaps I`ll take the train to Shimoda and bike from there.

Four day tentative schedule:
Day1: Yokohama to a east coast onsen (TBD)
Day2: East coast to perhaps Iwachi 岩地
Day3: Iwachi to Numazu 沼津
Day4: Numazu to Yokohama via Atami Pass 熱海峠 (probably)

Any one interested?

Hey Phil,

I was planning on setting off to Shimoda tomorrow morning, are you ready to go? The weather looks great, still warm enough for camping.

I'll be heading up the Tamagawa, then stay at or near Yamanakako tomorrow night. Then a day to explore Fuji no go ko and head towards Izu, and Monday cycle down the west side of Izu to Shimoda and relax at Shirahama, or the great onsen down there.
(Train back to Tokyo)

Should bump into a few TCC groups on the road tomorrow.

This weekend is a no go: some company functions to attend.
