I'm wanting to get a Bulk from Velomobileworld.com they are in Romania and are willing to ship it to Japan, but I know it will have to go through customs because they are going to hit me for the import taxes since they are about 1.2 million yen. Has anyone done this? Do you know whom could help me with the customs paperwork? Or know a import Broker? Thanks for any help.
Mike

Usually the shipping is organized by the consignor through a local shipping agent who will also have import agents in Japan to do all paperwork for you.
You as consignee just provide your details when the import agent contacts you. And pay tax and a few administrative fees.
Presume you are shipping it by sea?
You could always take a holiday in Romania and bring back a "used" recumbent as extra luggage.

Or a holiday anywhere abroad, and when you come back in opt for "unaccompanied baggage". Get that form stamped, and then you have a six month window for something to get shipped in, as tho you were bringing it in as luggage. It should be marked as such by the shipper, and will get stopped at customs and they'll contact you, and you then fax the paperwork back to them and they release it.

I've done this with guitars in the past, and am pretty sure it still works.
