Classic & Keirin Japanese illustrated map

@corsaclassic , from a set of pages about Japanese framebuilders within Cyclo Tourist volume 3 (published in 2011, ISBN 978-4-7661-2256-5), I learn that at the time of publication
  • Cherubim was the brand name of Konno Seisakujo.
  • Crafted was the brand of Pro Works Crafted, in Fukui City (Fukui Prefecture); its framebuilder's surname was Hosokawa.
  • Elan was a brand that had started in 1973; it was the brand of Cyclo Takahashi, in Kuki (Saitama) and the framebuilder's surname was Takahashi.
  • Gan Well was the brand name of Iwai Shokai, and the framebuilder was Yuka Kitajima (who, very rarely among Japanese framebuilders, was/is a woman).
  • Level was the brand name of Matsuda Jitensha Kojo.
  • Quark was the racing frame/bike brand, Futaba was the non-racing frame/bike brand, of Hosoyama Seisakujo, in Sagamihara (Kanagawa). The framebuilder's surname was Hosoyama.
  • Silk, deriving somehow from the earlier Katakura Silk, was the brand name of Kinu Jitensha Seisakujo in Hatoyama (Saitama) . (Kinu means "silk".) The framebuilder's surname was Arai.
  • Vogue was the brand name of Orient Kogyo.
I haven't bothered with macrons. Kitajima is the surname. For the most part I give surnames only, because I'm reading the names in kanji, and whereas most kanji for surnames permit only one reading, few kanji for personal names do.

... from the earlier Katakura Silk
Wow! In the early 70s I was in korea, came via the ferry to shimonoseki, bought and took back a middling katakura silk. White, I can't remember what happened to it, where I left it.

a middling katakura silk
Perhaps four hundred metres from where I live, a (Katakura) "Silk Gloire" has, for years, been firmly locked to a fence most days. Presumably its owner rides it to and from the slightly mysterious workshop next to where it's parked. It remains clean and looks fresh.

@microcord this would be my final lists (still have to fix name+surname and japanese text with a friend):

C. Itoh was and is a trading company. Did they really make or sell bikes? (Yes, I know that strange things have happened: the electrical company Matsushita making bikes, Yamaha making both pianos and motorbikes....)

Grand Bois builds bikes but also makes components. (For example, rims.)

Koga was (and is) a Dutch brand, though what was branded "Koga Miyata" was made by Miyata (I believe).

Is the "Maeda" that you list the Maeda that became Suntour?

Miyata -- in Kanagawa, really?

"Ravanello"!

Suntour hardly made groupsets. Rather, they made components that would add up to a groupset. (That was one reason for their downfall, or so I've read.) How about "drivetrains" for Sugino, Suntour, and Sankosha?

Dia Compe and Gran Compe are two brands used by a company named Yoshigai.

NB you asked for expertise. I am not an expert. I'm not even slightly an expert. I've never even heard of a lot of the names that you list. Good luck finding experts!

Thank you, Ravanello I must have corrected and then used an older file.
Great contributors and supporters like you are welcome, valued even more than mere 'experts'
