Having been real sickly for over a month my doc decided it wasn't the usual sinusitis > bronchitis > (and once, pneumonia) cycle that I go through a couple of times a year. He referred me to a (good) general hospital, where the diagnosis is that I probably have bronchial induced asthma.

This has all come as bit of a shock to me, as I have never suffered from it before (and I'm no spring chicken).

I would like to find a good (preferably English-speaking) clinic specialising in asthma, for tests to see just what kind of asthma I have - and the best way to treat it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? ~ somewhere in Yokohama/Kanagawa/Tokyo.

It's a real bummer, as I can't ride, and I want to .....

For a General Practitioner who has the connections you need I recommend

The Doc is British and so there is less "medical culture shock" than elsewhere. He will take the time to explain things to you, what the medication is for, etc. He's certainly more expensive than other places but if you have insurance, I'd start with him.

good luck.

yeah Asthma sucks

Don't know if you have heard but there is a non-pharmaceutical based treatment, involving changing your breathing technique.

There are some paid seminars you can go to, but there are heaps on online help and info's for free, if it costs nothing why not give it a go ?

It's called Buteyko (named after a Russian doctor). A search in Google will give you heaps of links but one good one that is run by FORMER asthmatics is this one....

Anyway my brother swears by this method, fortunately I don't have asthma.

If that doesn't help then there's always the standard mass-cell treatments like ventalin that the doctor can sort you out with....

Good luck !
