What: Short (120km-ish) run through inner Boso at a moderate road bike pace.
Where: Start and end at Honda (誉田) Station.
When: July 19th. 9:30 AM rollout. Should be back by 4 pm - 5 pm.

Thomas and I were thinking of a relaxed Boso run for next Monday. Very moderate back-in-the-saddle ride for yours truly. Haven't decided on the course yet, but we'll stick to the interior (avoid umi-no-hi beach traffic) and loop through some of the usual rindo climbs.

As always, any/all company would be more than welcome!

For information about trains etc and an idea of the route, see this thread from the Winter Boso ride:

Route

Here's the proposed route:

http://www.mapmyride.com/route/jp/chiba/132127901578640243

Modest 115kms, with the flattest possible return leg makes this an easier-than-usual Boso run, but it does include three decent little rindo climbs on the way down.

Time for breaks and back by 4 pm, I imagine.

Forgot to mention that we will cancel for rain, but the long-range forecast, for what it's worth, is looking good at the moment.

Phil, this is a ride I've been hoping to do for a long time. Unfortunately I won't be around then and will miss it again:( Have a great ride and please post some pics.

Mike, would love to see you over here in Boso one of these days, but this ride would probably a bit too mellow for you anyway. Maybe plan something more epic for the winter when the western toge's are iced over...:bike:

I'm in!

Hey Phil,
Indeed, this IS the one everyone's been waiting for.
I'll see you there!
Travis

Wish I could join for this ride.

Travis > Will be great to see you again, it's been a while (since Hitachi Naka??)

James > Sorry you can't make it, hopefully next time.

Mike to make it a more EPIC ride you can do what we did last time..... ride down to the coast and then catch the ferry over to Kanagawa then ride home.

Ah, but then you avoid all those umpteen climbs on the northbound return, which are what put the sting in the Boso tail...

Speaking of which, Thomas, Travis, and Andy, fancy adding another little climby loop on the return leg?

(Thomas, this is the loop we considered doing on one of the rides last year (with Alan, Naomi and Chris) but ended up skipping. It doesn't add many kms, but it rolls more than the main road. As it looks like just four of us, we'll probably be ahead of schedule at that point.)

Riding out there...

I'm potentially going to join this ride as well. I'll be cycling out from the Ueno area if anyone else is coming from central Tokyo.

Hello Pete,
I always ride out for these ones. Here's the map:

How about I meet you at 7:30 on Kuramaebashi-Dori, just at the beginning of the bridge as it goes over Edogawa (river)? That's about 13km from Ueno.

David > Great, it's been a while.

Pete > Will be very good to meet you.

Haven't decided if I'll have my car there, and no lockers at station, so please be prepared to carry bags etc if arriving by train.

Weather forecast couldn't be any better, so we're a definite go.

Confirmed:
Andy
Travis

Any other late joiners please be at Honda St. South Exit by 9:15 AM.

Looking forward it!

Hi Phil,

I might join in tomorrow, but for the first 50km only then I'll head for the ferry and back up Miura hanto, hopefully finish with a swim in the sea at Zushi - it is the "day of the sea" after all.

Andy

Great Andy, will hopefully see you at the station.

sickness

hello to all.

Sorry for pulling out so quickly and early, just started to fade.I only have the Usual "the dog ate my homework" type of excuses, flu last week etc.

I did manage to make it back to Narita , slowly. I have had a bit of a rest and now feel ok.

Thanks anyway, sorry not to have had a social ride.

Regards David
