belt drives

like all bike buying decisions depends on the purpose. Aesthetically, the SS.

saw one of these systems at the Tokyo Cyclemode and to be honest I'll stick with 150 year old technology, tested by lots and lots of famous riders :D

Lots of interesting photos of Nicolai mtbs with various interesting drive systems, including the Gates carbon drive and a Rholoff. Add a Hammershmidt and you`ve got my dream set up: no derailleurs, no chain, lots of gears...

The limiting factor of the carbon drive is it can`t be broken. The frame has to have opening seat-stay/chain-stay, or an elevated chainstay, or be assembled with the belt in place.
