Where in Sumida? Cycle Yoshida, in Kiba, Koto-ku is a good shop. Kiba is pretty close to Kinshicho.

turns out there's a number of outfits called cycle yoshida! an online retailer and a custom bike store front, which don't look related at all...

actually, are there any good parts-swap places? the seller of my bike told me about cycle paradise. I still need to find some time to check them out. been keepin' busy exploring other aspects of this new land.

i notice that japan has a vibrant 2nd hand market, especially on the geekier side of things, like with games n' toys. places like book off and mandarake are a couple of my favourite shops.

Cycle paradise (http://www.cypara.com/) and cycly (http://www.cycly.co.jp/top/CSfTop.jsp) are 2nd hand/used shops, though they also have new parts available. Parts-swap, not sure if they will do that.

FWIW, I've used cycly online and even visited their shop while in Kyoto to get some old french 6sp freewheels. I find the cycly website more easier to navigate.

I have swapped parts with cycly, they even let me off the difference I owed them. It is quite expensive in there so don't go expecting bargains.
