I was stationed there years ago and wonder if any of you have any pictures that you can post of the place. ( not sure if you can ) But if so, I'd like to check them out.
Thanks

I am not staioned there, but I am there for work at least once a year.
I am on Yokosuka far more, but I am not stationed there either. :)

I am at an itty bitty base nestled between Yokohama and Yokosuka.

I dont think I have ever taken a pic on Yokota as it is more or less 'just a base' with nothing too exciting.
The new Aafes/Commisary is nice - but then again, it is just a 3 story building with parking on the roof.
I will try and remember to take some pics the next time I am there.
I have taken pic at Tama Hills if you ever went there while active duty.

I think I spent most of my free time in Nishi Tachikawa. After the Air Force I worked in Hachioji. Also my karate dojo was in Hachioji at the time. I wonder how the prices are in the Commisary these days. Used to be REAL cheap. Pack of smokes were like 2.57 a carton as I remember. Wine, Boones farm was only 57 cents a bottle back then. Our pay was low for E-4 but everything was not expensive either. I'm not familiar with Tama Hills . I mostly went to Shinjuku and Akasaka on the weekends. Met the wife in Akasaka. KiwiSimon is probably saying " maybe you shouldn't have gone there that weekend ".

Tama Hills is the "Yokota recreational facility" - it was an old Japanese Munitions Factory and Depot.
It now is cabins, camping, a hotel, horseback riding, etc.... On the far side there is even a golf course.

The Gate to Tama Hills -

Lots of interesting history in that area. But you have to be SOFA or escorted by SOFA to gain access.
They host an XC race 2 times a year I used to always go to, but with the kiddos, now I just go when it works out.

As for Commissary prices - yes, it is cheaper than a regular US grocery store, but not incredibly cheap.
I never buy meet there as it has all been frozen at some point and I will pay the premium to buy from a local shop.
Also - I usually buy produce local. But for cereal, coffee, frozen stuff... they are still the best value..
