Help Any japanese bicycle brands?

Der Mitsubishi Wichser …

Apparently in Spain they don't list words in dictionaries if they are considered rude, on the basis that this would make them look respectable. Not a good idea then to check a dictionary to make sure a name is safe to use...

Another favourite of mine is the Suzuki Hustler.

Yes, I too am surprised to see a little car named after a hardcore porn mag. But back to the matter of Japanese bikes that aren't the same old. When a somewhat elderly friend of mine was already suffering from the cancer that would later kill him, he decided that he wanted a more forgiving ride than his aluminium-framed, narrow-tyred Specialized road bike. (But perhaps he liked the yellow colour of the frame.) So he went along to Tanuki Cycle, and discussed matters. I didn't hear what transpired, but it seems that customer and vendor both had a healthy disregard for convention and fashion. Anyway, some days later he came home from Tanuki on a freshly-yellow-repainted step-through with a drop handlebar and brifters. Which he enjoyed.

[PS my memory was faulty. See below.]

Is this your friend and his step-through?

Indeed it is! Stem shifters, and not a new paint job (sorry about the inaccuracies); but yes, that's it, and that's him. Your photo would have been taken close to Noborito.

I found his picture on the website you linked. I noticed the unusual combination of tires, narrow at the front, wide at the rear. Perhaps he wanted to use a dynamo hub wheel for the front and that's what was available at the time.
