Amazon.co.jp; pretty cheap!

Thought I would point this out, as I have just been doing a bit of research for some stuff I want to buy.

Seems that the prices of a lot of bike related things even here in Japan can beat that of the cheapest European big sellers at the moment on Amazon.

So don't rule it out, basically! I found some very cheap stuff on there tonight, with the luxury of having Amazon to control things, next day (even same day) delivery, etc.

Just thought I would spread the knowledge.

Cheers

I got my Go-Pro-Hero on amazon.co.jp for 20,000 yen. Haven't seen it that cheap anywhere.

I'll check around but yes, Amazon has gotten a lot of my business lately.
Between my wife, son and myself Amazon makes a delivery almost every day here... drives me nuts.

Yeah, it really is excellent, and fast.

I find it way more reliable than Rakuten, who seem to have very little control over their sellers.

Agreed, and Amazon. com (not Japan) is actually better.

For example - my espresso machine purchased on Amazon.com for roughly $600. The exact same machine on Amazon.jp is 140,000 yen.

Interesting! I'm using Eric's GOPRO - it's great, but has some UI issues - for example fumbling around with the buttons at 80kph is not fun. The Countour looks pretty good, too.

Also interesting is the Liquidimage Ego.. maybe we should start a cam thread??

Yep! Agree with Tim.....standard Amazon is awesome and Im waiting for the green light from my banker to get the new Sony Action Camera:

although the youtube video was created by Sony fan boys, something I'm certainly not and after some serious issues with Sony's warranty system and the fact that they seem to be designed to fail within a month of the warranty expiring. I vowed to stay clear.

However I've been looking at action cams for ages, Contour, Go Pro, iOn Action, Oregon Scientific ATC Mini. I've never been that impressed with the technology v price tag.

However the Sony Action cam seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.

Sony though...

I wouldn't know because, as I just realized, I haven't bought any Sony equipment over the last five years!

I use http://kakaku.com/ and http://www.coneco.net/ for a lot of online price comparisons and Amazon JP is usually somewhere near the top, give or take a few yen, but some of the others don't take credit cards so it often beats them at convenience.

My rule of thumb has always been

SONY for audio, Canon for cameras...

But besides my 5 or 6 Canon cameras The Go-Pro fills a gap for hard core sporty stuff. Compact, light, waterproof, and the lense picks up a lot of peripheeral stuff that a normal camera misses. Always amazed to see stuff on the video that I missed with my own eyes.

I do have a SONY video cam that I will probably never use...only bought it because it was cheap...that was a mistake... works well though but not HD.

Before the Go-Pro I'd tape an old broken Canon IXY to my handle bars...it worked really well...

Here it is at the Tsukuba 8 hour and the team I was in won the division as well... :D
