Love the updates, I've not logged into TCC much recently.
Glad you got the bike sorted, sounds like you have run into some lovely people in Tottori & Shimane area.

Lake Shinji is well known for small clams that are delicious in miso soup If you have the chance. Izumo soba is best soba in Japan too.
Looking great in that blue shirt.
Have you lost weight?
Take care in the heat.

the trees here are fasinating. And very old.
Had a good day. About 50 km.
I was an exchange student for a short while in Izumo, one of my favourite places in Japan.

At Izumo Taisha those large straw ropes people throw money up and make wishes. One time I threw ¥10 up & ¥100 or ¥500 fell down. My host father laughed and told me "gift from the gods".

The rabbits are part of the ancient legends about how the Oki islands were formed I believe, and a story about sharks stripping the rabbit of its fur as punishment for being a naughty little bugger. Matsue has one of the nicest castles I've visited, and the view from the top is worth climbing for. Lafcadio Hearn museum worth a visit too.
