Ok newbie question ..

What's best for Commuting .. it's going to be a mixture pavements and roads

Rob

(All I can get the Scott in is 26" But a gaint R3.1 comes in 700C)

That choice is kind of irrelevant, tho I'd stick with 700c since that's what's on my bikes...

For commuting, what matters more is the tires that you'll be putting on those rims--a much more important choice than 26 vs 700c.

Some here might offer that a training tire is good enough (maybe 25mm/700c), while others might say that something fatter would be better--maybe a 32mm, or even bigger.

It depends on your likes/dislikes, your commute, what bike/rims you're putting them on, and so on.

There's no single answer. Google: 26" vs 700C

--Mike--

yeah .. I have two friends at work who are keen riders - two different answers

I think the main reason I'm asking is that it will sort out the bike that I will get ..
26" is the Scott Sub30 and the 700c is a Giant escape R3 both are good bikes

just want get something and start riding :bike:

neither of 26" nor 700C
I dare say that a mamachari with power support would be best.

Why? :D
1) easy to maintain (economically)
2) easy to climb up (even if you were worn out)
3) not easy to be broken (against intentional cause)

lol .. nah i will leave the mamachari to yourself :p

I have managed to order a Scott Sub30 Classic but it doesn't arrive until the 23th Grrr

700C is close in size to the newer 29er size bikes. The larger wheel diameter (700C > 26in) is able to roll over bumps smoother than smaller diameter wheels. To illustrate this difference using extremes, compare a 700C bicycle to a child's 12in bicycle and run into a curb...
