Another year flies by. I had a decent 2013 until October when I picked up an injury in my first race, then a series of bugs donated to me by my 2 little incubators.

Still I managed to enter my first race and did alright, basically went faster and stronger than the year before. This year I hope to continue my improvement. Enter a few more races and do a few more weekend camping out with the family and friends cycling trips.

Stats for 2013...

Dist: 12179.9km
Time: 420.12hrs
Elev: 71400m
Rides:213 (no shopping trips included)
Ave Speed: 29.0 km/hr

This year I saw improvements in the areas that I had aimed for, longer weekly rides, more ability to sustain flat-land efforts, did two runs of my training program, improved my nutrition, only got sick in september (seems to be a reoccurring theme), and I was able stabilize my wight and in general feel strong and healthy. Two nice cherries on my 2013 cake (1) Knocked Tobias out of his ranking on my old local stomping ground, and (2) I shattered all of my previous PR's on Strava so I must be doing something proper.

The stats (not nearly as impressive as TheBlob...)
Dist: 4,211.75km
Time: 194.08
Elev: 48,906m
Rides: 117
Ave Speed: 21.7km
Avg HR: 147bpm
Avg cadence: 71rpm
Calories: 98,319c

Thank you all for the great company, advice, and of course the challenging rides ;)

Yikes those are some healthy numbers!

Good luck with job hunt

I've had a lot of fun getting back into cycling. Joining Saturday group rides and midweek Arakawa TTs has provided me with the stimulus I needed to bunk off work and empty my bank account in the pursuit of ever larger KOMs.

Since joining Strava in August:
Distance: 6,798 km
Time: 297 h
Elev Gain: about 60,000 m
Rides: 73

My first full year cycling was a blast.

Distance: 11,299.2 km
Time: 465h 31m
Elev Gain: 60,327 m
Rides: 406 (lots of little commute rides in there)

Here are my stats since April. I have not done much climbing so I will make it my goal to do more in 2014.

Distance: 5,554.17 km
Time: 252:13:13 h:m:s
Elevation Gain: 17,435 m
Calories: 139,958

Congratulations

Did a fair amount of riding in 2013, mainly associated with preparation for Haute Route, but carried into some domestic events as well. A difficult, but fulfilling year for me.

1) Transferred most of my business activities from IT to Cycling.
2) Organised, recruited, trained and accompanied the first Japanese team to enter (and finish) the Haute Route Alps. Was also my second time as a finisher and top 10 in the TT Stage age group in spite of suffering food poisoning from the first day onward.
3) Competed in the Taiwan KOM challenge and managed a top 10 placement in age group.
4) Perhaps the most difficult (and trying) of all was in getting commercial business established with Japan's largest IBD network.
5) Finally, I setup Astuto Continental shop as one key goal towards my 'mini-dream' of a nearly cafe style cycling hangout and nice place to build wheels. (Just snuck that in within the last few weeks of the year)
6) Rode more derailed bike in the last year than I did in the previous 20. Not so proud about that. 2014 will bring me back to the fixed as much as possible.

My numbers aren't too impressive compared to others but I have been splitting my time between cycling and running.
Cycling 2013
8189km with 96,350m of climbing
Running 2013
3223km

Hopefully more of the same for 2014
