Collecting dust and parts borrowed from it = expendable.

Everything is in perfect working condition and very good cosmetic condition.

Awesome frameset.
I can't believe you are going to sell it.
I remember chatting to you about your Salsa and my Surly a few years ago.
I thought you had a great setup and bike then and still do.
Good luck with the sale, someone will be very lucky!

The bike is awesome and I won't be broken hearted if it doesn't sell.
It is just the most under-used bike in my quiver and I have another more off-road that overlaps with the Salsa - so losing it doesn't limit me much... I just lose a bit of comfort.

I have a very understanding wife in this regard....

And note my road bike isn't even in this picture....

I only have the bare essentials...

a Ti Hardtail,
a Steel Single Speed
a Steel HardTail
a Carbon FS XC bike
a Carbon FS Enduro
a Steel Road bike
....

and the Salsa. :)

Everyone doesn't have that?

How does it perform as a touring bike, long days on roads in your humble opinion? I have been contemplating buying a 'steel adventure bike' from the UK for some time. I might be persuaded that I am better off buying in Shonan.

Of course this is completely subjective...

As a credit card tourer - or adventure tourer - the Apidura setup is great. If you pack too heavy in the bar-roll - you will have some issues - however the frame bag allows to get your heavy stuff in the center of the bike for better handling.

I have used more traditional front/rear racks and have had the load on the fork loaded too high. It was great on the flats and climbs, but on descents.. it lacked confidence once up to speed. This was a concession I was willing to make to have more ground clearance for off road. (the configuration in the snowy picture is the one used plus ortleib bags) That is my only complaint.

The bigger tires and set post give an amazingly soft ride for long days. - of course - big tires also mean more roll resistance, so it all comes down to what you are looking for.

Being able to run whatever tire I want has allowed for the bike to behave almost however you want. I have run 700x38s and 29x2.2 tires on this bike and it has worked well on both.
I did a 200km road ride (not loaded) with @kubatyszko & a few others and done some true mountain biking - the bike was able to do both and did quite well. I have put cyclocross tires on it and did a monster cross race in Virginia.

I would not put this bike as the greatest and anything, but pretty freaking good at most everything and one of the most fun bikes to ride.

I feared it would happen and it did... Got bored and rummaged through the parts bin. Found everything I needed to get the Fargo up and running. Took it for a quick ride and decided I am in love again.

Wifey is no longer even thinking about the number of bikes... win/win.

So yes, it is going back up for sale. It is severely under-used.
However it is different than the original post in that this is for a complete bike ready to ride with racks.

The bike will be sold as pictured below minus the Ortlieb bags and lights.

You will have your choice of a Thomson 100x0, Thomsons 100x10, Salsa 110x30, or Intense 60x0 stem.

Mate,
Totally the right decision.
Glad you made it.

I know, I know, I know.... But sadly with the little one, I am just not using it.
When I have free time, I am shooting straight for the trails.

Haha! I can write a manual if need be. BUT - I promise it involves losing other battles that some may not be willing to lose. :)

Again - this sale actually has nothing to do with her. It is a case of me looking at my bike room and just realizing there is a bike I won't use much unless I move.... and if I move... I have a valid reason for a new one!!! ;)
