We have the amazing and traditional New Year's Day Yamamote Loop planned for Sunday 1st January. Details below. 60 km. 09.30 start in Shinagawa.

Stuff going to the Shrine. Shrines are there all year. But there are very few days of the year when the roads are empty of traffic.

The absence of traffic on this holiday makes it good fun, enjoying parts of Tokyo we don't normally see without having to battle millions of cars and pedestrians.

This year the forecast is not so promising: currently the Met Office is predicting 40% chance of rain with a high between 9 and 12 so please do a little weather dance and offer sacrifices to the Sun God.

Meet at 9:30, to take advantage of the warmer part of the day and get back before sunset, at Shinagawa Station.

Meet by the tall lamppost/koban in the plaza on the Kounan Guchi side (NOT the Shinagawa Prince/Daiichi Keihin/Takanawa side)
(This is the side below Isetan Queen's Kitchen and Dean & DeLuca)

Lunch in Nippori, with beer. Less than 2000 yen.
Second beer stop with sausages at Eibisu Garden Place. Another 1500 yen or so.

Aim to be back at Shinagawa at about 1600

Warm clothes, water bottle and your bike.
If you think you might want to quit early, bring your bike bag.

Will be cancelled in the event of rainy weather.

Made a little movie about this ride two years ago.
