Thanks, I love the bike, but when I bought the latest MTB, something has to go.
It is a beauty, but the most under-used bike I have.

As best as I could measure with one hand and take pictures...

58 Top Tube
59 Seat Tube
17 Head Tube

The stem has plenty of adjustment in it. I have it almost maxed out for height and I find the ride very comfortable.
Possibly the older frame has a lower bottom bracket and a raked out fork, so the bike just rolls smooth and handles great.

Awesome bike and thanks for showing the measurements.
Unfortunately,a tad too small.
You've got a great set-up there.
BTW,is that your stable in the background of the tape measure shots?
If it is.......I'm more than impressed and understand why you have to get rid of at least ONE bike.
Well done to you,sir.

Sorry it is a tad small. If you are ever in the Zushi area, you are welcomed to test it out.
I have a 1980 Mixte I toyed with selling instead.... but the wifey might be pissed if she comes home one day and one of her bikes are gone....

The pictures were taken in my home office... so yes, the background is my collection.
The green you see in the top tube measurement is the bike that ultimately is driving the sale of this one... it took up the last space in my my rack.

Hi there,

Thought you should know that this frame would have been made between 1989 - 1992.
The Somec 1980's bikes were a little more conservative with the colour schemes. But none the less still looked the part.
This frame will either be columbus SLX or more likely SPX.
Somec build quality is, and always has been exceptional.

Still available.
I will probably be rocking this bike on the Miura ride this weekend if anyone wants to check it out.

*** If there is interest in the frame/fork/Stem/Bars/Seatpost without the drive train - I can work something out ***

"The buyer" - came down last weekend and took a test ride. We went for spin around the neighborhood - up and down some hills etc so he could get a feel for the bike.
After the test ride, we opted to have dinner in Zushi and chat about bikes and expectations, then just about life. Buy or not - friend was made.

Now in my head - if the bike did not sell soon, I was shipping it back stateside where it would be available to me to ride when I visit family (and need a break from said family).
So you are correct... there was a part of me that wanted to see no one actually buy it and I could just tell my wife it isn't worth selling, but "i tried" :)
The other part of me is excited for the new buyer. This will be an introduction to steel and Campy.

I don't want to "steel" the thunder of the buyer - hence no name being dropped, but I suspect the bike will be ridden often and loved.
And that actually feels better to me than knowing it is siting in a garage untouched 11 months out of the year.

The bike is off to its new home as I type.
We went through my spare parts bins and made some changes to the overall setup.
The bike is now rocking my "spare wheels" - Fulcrums with Conti Gator Skins, my old phone mount, and a brooks saddle.
Mechanically, we swapped the brake configuration and changed the white bar tap to black.

Aesthetically, it looks great, but much different.

We went for a 30km shakedown and made sure everything felt good.
